Wes Coates was a star quarterback drafted by the Dallas Aztecs in 1959 and in 1961 he threw over 3000 yards in a single season, he broke the all time Western League world record in passing yards. In 1964 he was named Western league MVP and Man of the League in 1967, he retired in 1975 when he torn his ACL. Wes was known for his fast ball and shredding some of the league's best defenses.
