The Cleveland Steamers are a team in Blitz: The League II. They were originally the San Diego Cyclones before relocating in 2006.
History:[]
The San Diego Cyclones were a founding member of the Western League in 1956 as the Sacramento Cyclones. In 1967 the Cyclones won the Western Championship and then lost the annual West-East Exhibition game to the New York Shamrocks this game was noteworthy more for the fact it would be the last the Shamrocks played as on the way home from it their plane crashed killing nearly the entire team. After the merger of the Eastern and Western Leagues in 1976 the Cyclones begin play in Division II. By 1981 the team was nearly bankrupt and was forced to take San Diego mayor, Arthur Rand's offer to relocate the team there, under cover of night the team packed up everything and made the trip to San Diego. By 1996 the team was down all the way into Division III, which had it's inception two years earlier thanks to a merger with Clive Hanson's Scrub League. Their stay there was short winning the Division III Championship by defeating the surprising Chicago Marauders. The San Diego Cyclones literally find themselves run out of town by their angry fans after it is discovered that the owner has been investing much of his fortune in a chain of local strip clubs rather than free agents. The original Cleveland Steamers were a short-lived team in The League during the 1940s but were one of the teams that were disbanded when The League consolidated from 12 teams to 6 in 1942 due to World War II. It would take over 60 years for Cleveland to get another franchise but they would finally succeed when they lured the bankrupt San Diego Cyclones to relocate there. Now this newest incarnation of the Steamers are back with a great secondary and a good receiving corps that could be molded into a contender.
In the second Blitz game the Steamers start out in Division III. Also former rookie WR Justin Jonas has joined the Steamers. During the move to Cleveland, their former captain, Ezekiel Freeman asked (demanded) for a trade to the Cincinnati Crusaders. So the Steamers appointed their new team captain, wide receiver, Henry Cho.
